Show PASSENGERS TO STOCKTON Railroad Officials ilakc Initial Trip Over the Leamington Cut-Off. i . , The first passenger train to run ever the Leamington cut-off left Salt Lake yesterday at 10 a. m. and ran down to Stockton. . Aboard the train were Vice-President Bancroft, General Superintendent Calvin, Cal-vin, Chief Engineer Ashton, Division Engineer Tabor, Acting Traffic Man. ager Schumacher of the Short Line and Traffic Manager Munroe of the Union Pacific, inspecting the new line. At Stockton the train was greeted by almost the entire population of the town. From there the party went to the front about ten miles beyond, and watched the tracklaylng gang, which with the use of the Harris tracklaylng machine is putting down a mile of track a day. The officials were well pleased with the general appearance of the road, and expect to have regular train service to Stockton by Monday. It Is also expected tojiave the track connected with the twelve miles of track laid' north from Leamington In about a month. The train brought the officials back to Salt Lake late In the afternoon. |
