BALLOONS AND AUTOS RUN RACE Start From the Parade Grounds Jear Berlin, as Exhibition: for Interna- tional Aeronautic Society BERLIN", Oct.-10. A race between balloons and automobiles was started at noon today as an exhibition for the members of the International - Aero-nautid Aero-nautid society by the balloon corps of the military transport department. The balloons-were sent up from the parade grounds at Tegel, seven miles I north of Berlin, at -intervals, of fifteen minutes. - Four balloons, each of 200 cubic meter capacity and carrying two officers. aud an assistant umpire,, took part in the contest. As each balloon with a-broad designing design-ing pennant shot up and sailed away in the direction of Hamburg before a sixteen-mile -breeze: four -and- in- pne instance, five automobiles flying the-coir orr of the balloon and posted on roads adjacent to. the parade grounds, followed, fol-lowed, so 'that within an hour seventeen seven-teen automobiles were speeding after the airships.
