Show LETTER TO THE EDITOR Our City Cemetery It will soon be Memorial day, May 30, the day when we pay respects to our loved ones by decorating de-corating their graves. It is suggested sug-gested that a practical way of showing our love and devotion is to see our cemetery cleaned up, weeds removed and the gates kept closed to keep livestock out. I have myself many times chas-1 ed the livestock out and closed I the gates We all know that there is no j water to be had as yet for the cemetery. But in our lot we have two rose bushes, eight trees and j daffodils growing and doing nicely. We do not carry water to them as we did years ago. Is the fact that there is no water wa-ter an excuse1 for not cleaning the cemetery and keeping sunk-in sunk-in graves filled in? At the time we buried our be-j loved children in the cemetery I believe the county had charge I and there was no lee for burial I in the cemetery. The, city of Bingham Bing-ham Canyon does charge for lots. Why cannot a small percentage j of the income go back into the cemetery to make it an outst-md-1 ing asset to our community? I am willing to -viy a share. Yus, there are many graves of old time residents who helped build this community and whose children have moved to other states and now cannot return to i care for lots. Don't take my word for conditions Walk through the cemetery and sec for yourself I Let's all cooperate and do what we can to improve the cemetery Let's hear from the taxpayers and from the city officials. What better time than this'.' Clean-up and Fix-up Week, to improve our j cemetery Mrs. Dewey Mayne 106 West Park street, Copperton. |
