Show THIRTEEN LIVES LOST IN TEXAS STORM; APPEAL IS MADE TO PUBLIC FOR AID FORT WORTH, Tex., April 27. Thirteen people were killed and a number num-ber seriously injured by a tornado which last night swept over the little town of Bellevue, Tex. The place Is practically destroyed: After the storm had razed, every building fire broke out and completed the work of destruction. Only four houses in the place are reported to have escaped destruction or Injury. The tornado covered an area eight miles wide and destroyed farmhouses and crops. A carload of provisions has been sent from Fort Worth and tents were forwarded for-warded from Wichita Falls. The property loss probably will reach J200.000. Reports from Stoneburg say the cotton-gin there was wrecked by the storm and several residences were damaged. No one was injured. Sidney Webb, chairman of the relief committee organized at Bellevue, has asked the Associated Press to give publicity pub-licity to the following communication: "Six hundred homeless and practically practi-cally destitute. Thirteen killed and a number seriously Injured. The entire town is In a heap of ruins, the destruction destruc-tion belng complete. Help of every kind Is needed and this relief committee commit-tee appeals to the public for aid. The committee requests that all contributions contribu-tions be sent to W. D. Worsham & Co., bankers. Henrietta, Tex." |
