Show TOURIST SEASON IS NOW IN BUD "It begins to look ss if the tourist season sea-son was opening up again," said Wesley Austin, chief clerk at the Knutsford, Wednesday, as he pointed to the register where forty-five tourists were registered Under the care of R. S. Coon of the Ray-mond-Whltcomb agency. "Winter Is usually a bad time for us, but this winter has been even worse than usual, although the transient business has been good. There have been very few tourists, and it has been a pusile . as- to the reason. Reports from California show that the season there has been very poor, not more than half of the usual number of Eastern people going out to enjoy the midwinter bathing. "Apparently people have money, but they don't want to spend It, and are stay-4ng stay-4ng home, or else they are going to other places. "The opening of the Salt Lake route will be a big incentive to California travel this summer, and we are looking forward to having even a larger business than usual. You see, heretofore Salt Lake has been sidetracked by the railroads, and tourists only given three or four hours here, but we hope to see this remedied by the new road, and it is almost certain that It will get the big end of the business as It Is a direct route to southern California." |
