Harry Wilcox, a half-breed Indian, jumped over Shoshone Sho-shone falls. The . strange part of the story Is that he still lives. Wilcox, who has a local reputation as a pugilist, haa been holding forth at Twin Falls City recently. He had been drinking some today, and while at Shoshone falls was Jokingly dared by a companion to make the leap. " I He declared he had the courage to do it and. suiting the action to the word, descended the path leading from the hotel grounds to the rock known as Lovers' Leap. When he reached the point at the railing he rapidly divested himself of his clothing. He was being watched by perhaps per-haps fifty people, who thought the whole thing a more bluff. With all his clothing off except a lower undergarment, he hesitated a moment, then leaped far out over the frightful precipice. He turned two somersaults before be-fore striking the water, 226 feet below. He swam ashore without assistance, and with no apparent hurt except a slightly Injured knee, but minus the one garment he started with. . |
