Show APPROPRIATIONS FOB INJURED GUARDS . ARE EQUALIZED BY HOUSE. There was a considerable strug-fle In the House Thursday over the two bills appropriating- money for the relief of the two g-uards, Zebulon Jacobs and David Wllcken, who were injured at the penitentiary during- the insurrection insurrec-tion October, 1903. The Jacobs bill called for 12000. after It had been amended by the committee report, while Wllcken's bill called for $3000, McCrea took the stand that the two men should be treated alike, and urged that Jacobs be given J3000 or the Wllcken appropriation be cut to $2500 and Jacobs raised to that amount. This was done after a long- harangue, on what each of the two guards is supposed sup-posed to possess, and the bills were changed so that each man will receive J250O. |
