Luckey had got into the "clutches" of a "Loan Shark"--of Denver., having borrowed (40.00 a 'year ago, and that he had repaid CO of this, and yet the interest had accumulated until now -it amounted to 178.93 interest: almost 20 per cent per month; that the debtor had beej forced into, bankruptcy, etc. We behave, in giving even the "devil" his just dues, bene this explanation. ;-Char ;-Char If s B, Luckey borrowed 'this money .February 4, 1904, giving a note for 139-20, 'payable $3.70 per week.. interest from maturity ma-turity at 8 per cent per annum, with $15.00 attorneys' fees. The papers were sent to hs for collection," and demand was made on him for the amount due with attorneys' at-torneys' fees.- He called at our office and agreed to pax $40 In full settlement. We Wired creditor and secured authority to accept this amount Then Luckey refused to do anything, and Immediately filed petition peti-tion in bankruptcy.
