Speaking of basketball, we've got a couple of treats in store for you fans soon. Tuesday night, December 17. Bingham will play host to the powerful Park City quint at Copperton Friday, December De-cember 20 the locals meet American Amer-ican Fork in the Bingham gym. There will be two games each night, starting time 7 and 8 o'clock. o'-clock. Your BDAA cards will be honored at both games. Due to the lateness of football season, Coach Sunny Allsop is rounding his charges into shape slowly. The Miners should have another strong squad this season with Knudsen and Boren, regulars back from last year and several boys who could have crashed the starting line-up. These two preseason pre-season games should give us an inkling of Bingham's strength, but we can't expect too much till the effects of the gridiron wear off a bit. The gals split j a series this week with last year's champs, Wasatch Oil, and have bettered or held their own with every team in the league. The girls are all bowling good and have their eyes on that first place position. Judy Slotte again got nigh series on her team. Judy is one of the top 5, and we expect to hear more from her. At Southeast, the men broke even with Bill Ward's Comet Inn five. After winning the first two j games with 1010 and 1012 scores the BDAA'ers dropped the last game and totals by 2 pins 2933 to 2931. Bill Ward was the big gun for the Comets with a 649. 1 George Abplanalp led the locals ! with 621 followed by Slotte's 603 ; and Bill Ablett's 597. In the Gemmell Majors Al Ab-lett Ab-lett topped the field with a 593 nosing out Sluga two pins. Gem-i Gem-i mell club won 3 of 4 from Prin-I Prin-I cess theatre as the Merchants trounced BDAA all 4. Old Holger (the Hogger) Forsnes copped the high game again with a neat 223. , It's a great game, you're neither ! too young nor too old to enjoy it. O |
