Ronnie Burke's single in the seventh inning with a man on third proved to be the deciding factor in Scussel's Stars victory over Holladay 6-5- Chris Ballamis and Ronnie Burke were the catchers for the Bingham I teams. The Bingham Cubs and Cop- perton Yanks are fighting hard for the lead in the Junior lea-sue. lea-sue. Bob Sanchez, Ronnie Burke, John Dee Mitchell and Marion Cowdell are staging great pitch-in pitch-in battles. The teams of the playground were treated to a watermelon bust Thursday by Joseph P. Scussel. A baseball tourney is being contemplated- for boys 15 years or under in the county soon by Joe Christensen, director of recreational re-creational play for the county. It is planned to arrange to have two good tennis instructors to meet with tennis enthusiasts of Bingham and Copperton to ! instruct them on the fine points of tennis. A woman instructor and a man instructor will carry on the instructions. It is also planned to have an open air dance for adults and everyone in Bingham district j soon- It will be held at night in the tennis court at Copperton if i arrangements can be made to obtain it for this use. Dennis McNeely has been on the playground daily umpiring our games. Tommy Johnson, Kendall Timothy and Oswald Gallegos are newcomers on our playground. j The Bingham American Legion Le-gion team last week defeated Rotary club of Salt Lake City 24-5 for their 9th victory of ! the year. On Friday of last week thev defeated the American Am-erican Legion team represent- ' ing the Sugarhouse post and made uo of south side high players 12-5 for their 10th victory vic-tory of the year. Tuesday, July 9, we defeated Bennion post of Salt Lake City on the Bingham field before a large crowd of spectators 9-3 for our 11th straight win. This was our last game with Salt Lake City teams and this victory made it a complete victorious double i round of city teams. Philip Mon-toys Mon-toys was the winning pitcher against Bennion post. The Murray American Legion team will be our opponents here Friday (today) at 5:30 pm. . O |
