Show PLAYGROUND NEWS B J Santistevan, Area Recreational Director The Bingham American Legion Le-gion team played the Ogden Legion post team at Affleck park in Ogden and defeated them 3-1. It was a well played kid ball game and was played before a good sized crowd. The Ogden team was made up of a good-sized bunch of boys and they were good fielders and hitters. The first inning found Bingham in plenty of hot wafer. Nelson made an error and allowed al-lowed the first man to reach first. Knudsen hit the second man and walked the third. This filled the bases but the Bingham Bing-ham boys went to work and after a couple of good fielding plays and a strike out by Knudsen Knud-sen the side was retired without with-out a run. Ogden scored in the third inning when Culleion's throw to Nelson was wild and allowed an Ogden player to score from second. Bingham tied the score in the fourth and in the fifth drove in the two runs which was our margin of victory. The Bingham infield played great ball and helped Knudsen get out of a lot of bad holes. Jack however, struck out nine Ogden hitters and walked six. Culleton led the hitting for the Bingham team Scussel's All Stars and the Bingham District Athletic asso ciation softball teams are entered enter-ed in the state midget softball tournament held at Murray this week. Both sponsors paid the entry fee for their teams. The tournament is for all boys 14 years or under. Thursday of this week the Le-' Le-' gion team entered the Provo Legion Le-gion tournament at Provo. Our first game is with Price. I attended the review put on at Bingham Central school by Miss Virginia Harris and her staff. I think she did a wonderful wonder-ful job and the parents who were there felt the same way. All the i girls who have supervised this work through the summer should be complimented for the fine 1 work they have done. O |
