Show BJ).A.A. FLASHES by Jim Abplanalp Miners and Cowboys Meet On Copperton Grid Today (Friday) (Fri-day) at 3 p.m. the Bingham high football eleven plays host to the galloping Cowboys from Grantsville. Grants-ville. The locals, after suffering defeats at the hands of Murray and Tooele, are determined to break into the win column. The local gridders started out the season with what seemed another anoth-er championship crew, but have run up against some unexpectedly unexpected-ly strong opposition. One touchdown touch-down means a lot of difference in high school football, especially especial-ly as the weather and fields get bad, so we cannot feel too bad at our boys' showing. Please have your BDAA cards ready to present at the game. ALLEY ANGLES Bowlers are the "craziest people". peo-ple". Imagine anyone hoisting a 16-pound ball up from the rack some 12 to 20 times per game, cuddling it fondly in his hands, rolling or throwing same ball down a 60-foot alley, just to see how many of 10 odd shaped wooden pins he can knock dwon. And that's not all, the average bowler goes through this ritual from 3 to 30 times per week, developing de-veloping his skill at body contortions, contor-tions, absolutely new muscle building exercise and practice of facial expressions that sometimes put Frankenstein to shame. But even after the keglers have put on their most vivid performance, perform-ance, and come up with their sorriest results of the season, do they give up in disgust? Nope, the dopes go right back again and smile all over at the guy who can't seem to get a "strike . Funny people, but try it yourelf sometime, it's a lot of fun. Our local keglers have been making the bowling news pretty regular lately. The B.nghamet-tes, B.nghamet-tes, ladies team in the fast RitZ league, have really put on a show this season, as they continue to lead the field. This week Ann Marks came through with a tine 540 series to lead her team to a split series with the strong Drive It Yourself five. In the Salt Lake Major league, the BDAA "Travellers" lost a close and tough series to Paramount Para-mount Ice Cream. Al Ablet and Frank Zaccaria took three of four from Perc Jensen and Ken Khr 2 George and Jim Abplanalp split with Doug Muir and Goidy Wood, in the Salt Lake Major doubles classic. c,.tht drives tne Bingham boys set some kind o a record, as they lost to Paul s Service. After such a bad series these boys can only go one way up so look out from now on. |
