Show AIR MAIL RATES REDUCED TO U. S. MEN JNSERVICE A reduction on the rate of postage on air mail to and from U. S. armed forces outside out-side continental United Stales is announced by Postmaster General Frank C. Walker, effective ef-fective December 23. Rate is now 6 cents for each half ounce or fraction thereof, for air mail sent to or by members mem-bers of the armed forces from or to any post office in United States to or from any place where the United States mail service is operation out side U. S. boundaries. This new ruling does not affect the air mail rate to and from Alaska. Acording to Postmaster Earl T. James, the saving on air mail posted by or to men in service at the points affected will be considerable. For instance, contrast the new rate of 6 cents for each V'a ounce to these old rates on Vi ounce air mail: to Hawaiian Islands, 20 cents; to Wake Is- land, 40 cents; to the Philippines, Philip-pines, 50 cents.
