Show STOVES PLACED ON RATION LIST Consumers and dealers of heating heat-ing and cooking stoves designed to burn coal, wood, oil and gas were reminded by Francis J. Quinn, chairman of the Bingham district war price and rationing board, that OPA's new stove rationing ra-tioning regulations became effective ef-fective Tuesday, August 24. According to the program, no new stoves may be sold except in exchange for a purchase certificate cer-tificate issued by the rationing board, it was stated. Any individual individ-ual who does not have a usable or repairable stove will be eligible eligi-ble for a purchase certificate provided pro-vided it is to be used to heat essential es-sential or working space or is needed for necessary cooking. The regulation also provides that the applicant must not have disposed dis-posed of a usable or repairable stove within sixty days before the application is presented to the board. Stoves which are exempt from the rationing provisions include sheet-metal wood stoves without grates, gas hot plates, portable ovens, laundry stoves with built-in built-in water jackets, and portable gasoline camp stoves, the board chairman said. Floor furnaces, central heating equipment and all heating and cooking equipment equip-ment designed especially for commercial, industrial, agricultural agricul-tural or institution use are not rationed by the rationing board, although all of them require purchase pur-chase priority certificates from the War Production Board, the chairman indicated. The board chairman also pointed point-ed out that the prohibition against again-st using detached shoe stamps for purchase of shoes except bona fide mail order sales have been strengthened. After September 1 shoe dealers are required to display dis-play a sign saying' "rationing regulations re-gulations prohibit this store from accepting loose war ration stamps for shoes selected or delivered at the store." The chairman emphasized that under the new provisions, a detached de-tached shoe stamp may be used only if it is sent in with a mail order and if the customer or his agent does not personally select or receive the shoes at the seller's place of business. o |
