Show MINE ACCIDENTS TAKETWO LIVES Two Highland Boy miners suffered suf-fered fatal injuries within the week at mines in that district. Abelino M. Ortez, 38, a miner, was fatally iniured Saturday morning at the Apex property of National Tunnel and Mines company. com-pany. His death, three hours after the accident, was attributed to fractures of the back, ribs and both legs. Ortez was working on the 2800- foot level when several hundred pounds of rock fell upon him. Born in Chimayo, N.M., November Novem-ber 8, 1903, Mr. Ortez is survived by a wife, Mrs. Adelia M. Ortez, and two children in Chimayo. His body was shipped to Santa Fe, N. M., for burial. Pedro Duran, 40, of Highland Boy, died Sunday in a Salt Lake hospital of a neck fracture received re-ceived in an accident on the 200-foot 200-foot level of the Armstrong tunnel tun-nel of the American Smelting and Refining company mine at Highland High-land Boy Friday. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Ro-sary Catholic church with the Rev. Daniel E. Leahy officiating. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Friday (tonight) at the Nedencio Galvan home in Highland Boy. Interment will be in Bingham cemetery under direction of Bingham Bing-ham mortuary, |
