Show FIRECRACKERS, ANY UNSAFE PRAC1TCEBANNED i Patriotic Americans are enlisting enlist-ing in a campaign to prevent fourth of July accidents th:it waste manpower, material and time needed for victory. The National Safety council asks that as a practical means pt reducing the heavy holiday traffic toll, everyone spend this Fourth of July at home. The celebration this year is vastly different from that of past years. In 1941 we merely celebrated cele-brated independence; in 1942 we are fighting to preserve it. Patriotism Pat-riotism this year requires that we must do nothing which might result in a waste of human lives and material resources needed to insure freedom. This year the Bingham volunteer volun-teer firemen are arranging a program for public enjoyment which will make staying at home pleasant and profitable, as well as patriotic. Chief of Police R. J. Contralto Con-tralto reminds that "Accidents help the axis. Let's unite in putting victory first on the fourth, and adds: "Firecrackers are a perennial Fourth of July risk which will be eliminated in Bingham Canyon this year by strict enforcement en-forcement of the city ordinance forbidding any person, firm or corporation 'to sell or offer for sale, or have in his or its possession pos-session or custody any rocket, squib, firecracker, Roman candle, cand-le, toy pistol, fire balloon or other combustible or explosive fireworks, or any article for th emaking of pyrolechnical displays.' " Punishment for a violation of this ordinance calls for a fine not exceeding $50.00, or by imprisonment in the city jail not exceeding 30 days or by both." o |
