OCR Text I Wallace Calls CalIs Meat Packers' Packers Conference WASHINGTON Sept 1 UP UP- UP Secretary o of Agriculture Wallace has called a hearing for September 8 in Washington on a marketing agreement agree agree- ment merit for the meat packing Industry The agreement was o offered by the Institute of American Meat Packers comprising 85 per cent of United States slaughter houses It provides for selection of a processors committee commit- commit tee ee which would act in cooperation with Secretary Wallace to supervise the industry The committee would be granted permission to adopt marketing policies polio poli cies des which would include establish establishment ment mont of ot prices in respective territories terri tern tories differentials in price based upon quantity quality and service and to regulate shipments to prevent to-prevent shortages shortage and surpluses Wallace would be empowered to veto any programs programs programs pro pro- grams developed under the agreement agree agreement ment
