B Hughes William Bowen Hughes Hugh s 73 former commissioner of Utah and Salt Lake counties and widely known as a produce produce prod prod- uce merchant died Tuesday at a. a m. m at his home 2490 Third East street of complications complications' that developed developed devel devel- following an automobile accident acci ace dent last October Mr Hughes had been ill for several months and was stricken seriously two weeks ago He had been confined to his bed since that time tune Mr Hughes had been active in the affairs of the Democratic party for many years He served as councilman council council- man of Spanish Fork Utah county commissioner from 1898 to 1900 and Salt Lake county commissioner in 1915 He was to the latter position tIon by former Governor Simon Bamberger Bam Barn berger herger to serve an term NAMED INSPECTOR In 1927 he was wai appointed Inspector for the state road commission anc and held that post until he was Incapacitated incapacitated as a result of the automobile ac accident ac- ac Mr Hughes was born in Spanish Fork February 27 27 1859 a son of 01 Morgan Morgan Mor Mor- gan and Hannah David Hughes handcart handcart hand hand- cart pioneers He resided in Spanish Fork during his youth and engaged in farming Later he became superintendent superintendent of the Young Mens Men's Coop In Spanish Fork and for twenty years engaged in the merchandising busness bus busi bus bus- ness there In 1902 Mr Hughes moved to Og den where here he became secretary secretary- treasurer of the C. C A A. Produce company and remained there until 1906 when he moved to Salt Lake where he founded found d the William WilliamB B B. B P. P O. O E. E lodge No 85 and the L L. D. D S. S church Surviving are his widow Mrs Alice E. E Payzant Hughes five sons sons William McKell Hu Hughes of Los Angeles George D. D Hughes of Glendale Cal Cat Delbert Bowen Hughes Ronald E E. Hughes and Albert C. C Hughes all of Salt SaIt Lake five daughters Mrs Gladys Anderson of Los Angeles Mrs A. A O O.
