Show Springville Pioneer Celebrates Birthday Y SPRINGVILLE June tunc 9 WIth 9 With relatives relatives relatives rela rela- tives and friends from all parts of oC the state in attendance the ninety sev birthday anniversary of oC Moroni Miner oldest resident of this city was celebrated Tuesday afternoon and evening with a family reunion at Glengary A program by family members including in in- eluding a short talk by Mr Miner outdoor outdoor outdoor out out- door sports picnic lunch and dancing featured the entertainment The oc oc- occasion casion caslon also marked the the ninth forty wedding anniversary of Mr Miners Miner's oldest son and wife Mr and Mrs M M. Albert Miner Mr Miner was born in Kirkland Ohio June 4 1835 and was acquainted acquaint acquaint- ed with Jo Joseph ep S Smith ith first president of the L. L D D. S S. church He crossed the plains with his mother and seven brothers and sisters in 1850 walking a distance of ot more than 1000 miles He came to Springville in 1851 and has lived here since residing on the theM M Miner ner farm for more than 70 years He hauled logs from the canyon to build the old white meeting house here Mr Miner helped to build the first Springville home outside theold the theold theold old fort He is listed among the few remaining remaining remain remainS ing Indian war veterans He has always been ac active ve in L. L D. D S S. S church work serving at one time as a missionary missionary mis in the southern states He was among the first to devise plans for education of pioneer children and andone andone andone one room of ot his home served as a school at one time for r his and neighbors neighbors' neighbors neighbors' neighbors neighbors' neigh neigh- bors' bors children He was married to Nancy E. E Chase Chose February 4 1861 She died four years ago at the age of 83 years They were parents of 15 children 12 sons and 3 daughters Nine are arc living living 1 Mrs Elizabeth Whitmore Floyd M.
