J Anderson as his its first witness Dr Andersons Anderson's tes testimony testimony timon was confined to a description of the condition in which the victims victim's body was found and the wounds which caused death TO TAKE TWO DAYS The s state te announced that at least two wo days das would be required in which to o complete its evidence against the two wo defendants Both Draper and Mrs Jensen are represented by Louis Larson Manti Manu attorney Mr Mc president of the Bank of Ephraim and rind one o of the wealthiest men in southern Utah was discovered dead in his home here April 14 He had been beaten until his ris skull was fractured in several places His clothing and bedding was then saturated with old crankcase oil and fired When his small grandson called at his home at 7 a. a m. m he saw the aged man lying in a pool of blood his clothes He called his father and the alarm was spread There was no evidence of robbery In the home was found a 3 bloodstained blood stained butcher knife but there were no knife wounds on the victims victim's body Sheriff Sherif Ed J J. Peterson then sought a wounded man who might have been prompted b by some motive other than robbery to attack the man DRAPER ARRESTED Mendon Draper was arrested a few days das later His face was badly cut cul He claimed that he had cut his face while working among willows that overhung an irr irrigation ditch which he had been cleaning Not satisfied with the stor story Draper was confined by the sheriff several days longer After prolonged questioning he confessed to having assaulted the man but claimed that he had not killed him Three days das after alter Draper was incarcerated Mrs Ivadell I Jensen daugh- daugh ier ler of the murder victim and sweet sweetheart heart of Draper was arrested Sherif Sheriff Sher Sher- if ill iff Peterson found a stained blood apron in her home later She claimed that the stains had come from a pim pirn plc pIc which she had opened Sheriff Peterson disbelieved her story and took ook her to the Utah county jail at Provo for safe keeping fearing that the he community might seek to do her violence if she was believed to have been implicated in the murder S.
