Advices from Jamaica aay the International exhibition is to be opened on Jan. uary23.1S91,at St. Andrews, just outside of Kingston, Jamaica. It will embrace the products of the whole West Indian Islands in particular, par-ticular, and the remainder of tbe world In general, and will be the woik of the people of that vicinity. The grounds are being laid out in an Inviting manner. The natural flora of the country being troplcal.lt will be used to advantage in making tbe garden scenery beautiful aud attractive. at-tractive. Tbe president of the exhibition ex-hibition is Sir Henry Blake, governor gover-nor of Jamaica. It has been arranged that Prince George of Wales, son of the heir apparent to the throne of England, shall open tbe exhibition. Prince George Is now with the North American squadron of the British navy, tbe vessels of which have been ordered to report earlier than usual at Port Royal, Jamaica. Tho French squadron has slso been ordered to tbe same port fur this event, and lt Is expected that the United States and Spanish squadrons squad-rons will also take part. |
