Show CARE OF PETS USUALLY when a dog commits an offense J it is punished by death If a dog does the unexpected and turns upon a child the death penalty ordinarily follows as a natural natural natural nat nat- ural consequence But the other day here in Salt Lake a dog turned upon its little master and bit him himin himin himin in the face Had the usual rule been followed followed followed fol fol- fol- fol lowed the dog would have been put away But the little master in bed recovering from his wounds the dog now fully penitent showed its contrition by unmistakable signs of affection in dog language Now and then human beings are nettled or annoyed and become almost animal animal- like in resentment But a human being can apologize or get probation or a suspended sentence Dogs like other pets are entitled to con con- They have nerves They become distraught like humans They can be teased and tantalized to the point where they use the only defense they know and fight back And then they are sorry The dog that bit its master has been taken back into the good graces of the fam fam- ily This was an act of justice |
