J Parents' Parents Sacrifices I WHEN I go into junior high Evelyn EvelynI I vy warned arned her mother I shall ha have ye to wear vear ear silk stockings every day All An the girls do I Evelyns Evelyn's father is a poor man and her I mother does docs all her own housework including the washing and ironing She puts on silk stockings only when she dresses up But she accepted th the tho fact that her year old daugh ter must have them for every da day The stockings were tremendously important import import- ant to both mother and daughter And certainly certainly no one would want Evelyn to be the only girl in the junior hi high h school whose legs were not clad in silk To wear them would not be noteworthy but not to do so would be painfully significant We Ve cite this incident to bring out this thought American parents will deny themselves themselves themselves them them- selves to the limit to provide for their chil chil- dren then It is heroic what struggles a mother moter and father will go through h to see sec that their children receive an education and are arc launched upon the highroad to happy adulthood Even down to such seeming nonessentials as silk stockings for the daughter in junior high the average parent would sa sacrifice gladly to give their children the things enjoyed by their schoolmates The limitless unselfishness of the average parent is an inspiring fact
