Show FORMER RESIDENT RECEIVES MEDAL Word comes from Fort Shafter, T. H., of the award of an air raid medal to Technical Sergeant Albert Al-bert S. Hatfield of the United States army air corps for meritorious meri-torious achievement while participating parti-cipating in an aerial flight on December De-cember 23. Sergeant Hatfield is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Beck Sr. of Sandy and was a resident of Murray, at the time of his enlistment. en-listment. His parents understood that the attack referred to was over Wake island. , Sergeant Hatfield, a radio operator, op-erator, was awarded the medal by the commanding general of the Hawaiian department. The order was signed by Brigadier General Leonard R. Boyd, chief of staff; Colonel R. E. Fraile, adjutant ad-jutant general; and L. F.- Johnson, John-son, captain of the air corps. A graduate of Bingham high school, Sergeant Hatfield has many friends who are pleased to hear of the honor given him. |
