H. rheiecond section of the western express on the Pennsylvania Ballroad collided wrthnn-east; bound express train at Xew Florence, -Pa, this morning. The wreck took fire and one Pullman Pull-man was burned. Two persons were killed and eleven injured. Killed are H. D. MInot, Boston, nd Mrs. 8. H. Angell, Washington. Washing-ton. I"ho accident between tho two sections of tho western express wjilch left New York hut evening was caused by a fog which prevented prevent-ed the engineer of the second section from seeing the first section in time to stop. The first section was made up of Pullman sleepers and day coaches. The eecoud section was composed of bag-race, bag-race, extrts and mall can. The lint section was behind time. The eecoud rrasbed Into the sleeper Biscay, telescoping It ten or twelve feet The sleeper caught fire and was nearly destroyed. The Achetes, next the sleeper, was thrown from the track. The scene following tho collision was exciting ex-citing In the extreme. The passengers became panic stricken and In their efforts to get out they nroke the windows and crowded through as quickly as possible. The passenger in the uufortuuate Biscay Bis-cay wero removed, and it was found that two had been killed outright Eleven aro more or less seriously injured. At least four of the injured, in-jured, it is thought, will die. They will be conveyed to houses in the vicinity. Tho uninjured arrived in this city shortly before noon. |
