The monthly meeting of the Sabbath Sab-bath School officers of the Salt Lake Stake met lu the Fourteenth Ward Assembly Hall on Monday evening, Nov. 10. Bupt J. C. Cutler presided at the meeting. The musical exercises were rendered by tho Seventeenth Ward Sabbath School, the choir led by Brother Frank Merrill. An essay on "Education" wad read by Miss Vickie Clayton. True education, -be said, was the development develop-ment of spirit, body and Intellect. The foundation ofelueatlon should be religion, followed by physical.moral ard ldlelltual tflwers. A training in any oneof these requisites would notclve a complete education, the object of which I to make mankind mora like their Maker. They were created In Ills likeness, and should be educated to become) like Him In intellectual puwer. Moral'ly and religion are so nearly allied to each other that they cannot be serrated. He was pleased to nolle that the old plau ef merely reading from the Scriptures without comment was bei ng done away with and superceded by better methods or fetching. He referred toa teacher in tho Seventeenth ward school, who In his labor was always prepared to intelligently explain the polbts In tne lesson and answer all questions asked by the students. Superintendent George Goddard remarked that no more Important mission could be had than that or tralnlnc the youth, and spoke en-courinzly en-courinzly of the Improvements being Introduced in our Sunday schools. He referred to several particular par-ticular principles that should be taught in the Sabtnth school, such as the Word of Wisdom, tithing, Brother R.8. Horne stated that some little change would be made in conducting these meetings in the future, and requested a full attendance attend-ance of officers aud teachers at the next meeting.
