Show RECENT STORMS BENEFIT RANGES Recent storms in Utah have improved im-proved moisture conditions on ranges and increased water supply sup-ply prospects for crops but have retarded spring planting, according accord-ing to information issued by the U. S. weather bureau and the Bureau of Agricultural Economics. . Spring planting made little progress anywhere in Utah last week. Planting was restricted to sandy soils and very little of the planned - for acreage of spring wheat, oats and barley has been accomplished. No abandonment of winter wheat acreage is apparent yet except ex-cept in Box Elder county where considerable loss is feared. Generally Gen-erally the condition of , winter wheat is considered very good, the report stated. Hay supplies still are reported ample despite a continued necessity neces-sity for feeding caused by last week's storms. Demand for baby chicks is re- . ported less than normal in Box Elder, Davis, Tooele, Utah, Carbon Car-bon and Duchesne counties. In Salt Lake county demand is about normal. Two counties, San Juan. I and Garfield, reported an increased demand over last year. |
