Show Grid Candidates Greet New Coaches As Practice Opens Mon. Over 45 Enthusiastic Grid Candidates Begin Drills; Several Players Lost Through Graduation, Armed Forces Springville high school's enthusiastic grid candidates greeted their new coaches, George Pehrson and Stanley Nielsen, Monday night on the gridiron as the frst; cali for football drills was issued. Upwards of 45 candidates, thc largest group to turn out for the sport for several years, were out ready to go. During the week, Coach Pehrson Pehr-son has been giving his squad conditioning drills and fundamentals fundamen-tals of the game. The outlook for the Red Devils' chances of winning the Regional title this year, remains pretty much a mystery. Springville was not able to do much lasc year and with some 12 players absent from the roster through graduation and via Uncle Sam, this year's outlook out-look remains a question at the present. Players who will not be back this year are: Ray Miller, J. Reed Bird, Carl Boyer, Dave Beal, Oral Bartholomew, Bliss Fullmer, David Salisbury, Keith Otteson, Bob Walker, Dick Wilkins, Sam Wheeler Wheel-er and Keith Dalton. Returning men who will probably prob-ably carry the brunt of this year's attack will be Tom Cummings, Richard Black, Hal Eggertsen, Dick Haymond, Rulon Francis, Mart Bringhurst, Russell Palfrey-man, Palfrey-man, and Wayne Brammall. La-Mar La-Mar Diamond, who played last year, but who did not go out the first night, may join the club to bolster the line. Diamond played good ball last season and is a big fellow. Springville will play Coach Art Gilbert's Murray eleven at Murray, Mur-ray, Sept. 21 in a practice tilt. The game will be played at night under the Murray stadium lights.
