Show Standard Oil To Expand Research Work New jobs and peacetime uses for war-winning products of the oil industrial will be developed in two ! major petroleum research centers which Standard Oil Co. (N. J.) is to build at Linden, N. J., and Baton Ba-ton Rouge, La, as soon as mater- ials are available. Scientists in the new laboratories laborator-ies will seek ways of extending present sources of supply of oil. They may convert the smoke generator gen-erator to combat frost in orchards orch-ards and as an insect spray over wide areas. Research will also be continued on jellied gasoline, used in incendiary bombs, high octane gasoline and butyl rubber. At least 20 per cent more researchers re-searchers will be added to the company's technical group of 2,100 when the buildings are completed, , by the end of 1946 or early 1947. |
