Play in the league this week is scheduled for tonight and Friday night, instead of Saturday, as originally orig-inally scheduled. Tonight's Schedule . . . Opening tonight's games at 7 p. m. will be the Third vs. Mapleton game. Third is given a slight edge over Mapleton, but only on virtue of their ability at making long shots count, together with their fast passing attack. Mapleton has a fast club and is much rangier than their opponents, which 1 may make the needed difference. At 8 p. m. First will meet Sixth STANDINGS W L Pet. Sixth is one game be- I hind First and must win the tilt i to keep in the running for top hon- j ors. A close and exciting game is in the offing. In the evening's finale, Second ! and Fifth will clash in another j expected-to-be toss-up game. Second, Sec-ond, which has been coming along, nicely in their past two games, should give the Fifth a stiff game and is expected to take the tilt. Fifth, however, is a strong club and very capable scorers. Friday's Schedule .... Friday, Dec. 19, will pit Fourth and Sixth together at 7 p. m. Third and Second meet in the feature game at 8 p. m., and First will , battle with Mapleton at 9 p. m. All three games are pretty close to a toss-up as far as picking win- ! ners is concerned. Outcomes of these games will go a long way in determining who will take over as leader in the circuit for the first half. Last Week's Results . . . Last Thursday's games went prety much according to schedule as far as winners were concerned. However, not until the final quarter quar-ter did the winners ,pull out and put the game on ice. Second coast-j coast-j ed to a comfortable win over Mapleton 39-22, but Third had its hands full for three whole quarters quar-ters trying to overcome and defeat Fifth 38-31, after putting on one of the finest exhibitions of passing pass-ing and shooting in the final quarter quar-ter seen here to date. First likewise like-wise had a rough time keeping ahead of Fourth before finally subduing sub-duing them, 25-17. Crandall; clever Second ward dribbling guard, rang up 19 points to lead Second in their conquest of Mapleton. Jensen and .Dibble counted 6 and 5 points, respectively, respective-ly, to lead the losers. Miner and Teasdale led the winners, win-ners, while Anderson and Blacke were the big guns for Fifth. Bjarnson Bjarn-son led the First warders in their win, making 8 points. Clark tied for scoring honors for Fourth with 8 points. Saturday night, Fifth upset the leading First ward team to the tune of 23-14, with Ray Black garnering gar-nering 10 points. Bartholomew counted six for the First.
