Instead, take advantage advan-tage of the new carefully worked-out worked-out formula for Triangle Lighting. ' Pictures as outstanding as the one shown above are possible for even a beginner with a box camera I when he uses Triangle Lighting, i There's noth- subject inS compli- 2g 7 cated about this new tech- nique. All you ooht need in addi tion to a solid ' support for UCHT CAMtftA your camera, are several Reflector Floodlights and Spotlights Spot-lights which have built-in reflectors, reflec-tors, and some clamp-on holders for them. Here are a few tips you will want to follow: Place the subject near a non-distracting background. Set your camera on a solid support sup-port (a tripod or table) and place a Reflector Floodlamp at or near the camera lens. For background light (to make the tree and youngsters stand out sharply as illustrated in the picture pic-ture above) a third Reflector Floodlight was placed behind the tree, diagonally apposite the second sec-ond lamp and an equal distance from the subject. Notice how this variation gives the picture depth and sparkle and a more realistic effect. Exposure time should be based upon the lamp at the camera. For simple folding or box cameras be sure to use fast film with an exposure ex-posure time of one-half to one and a half seconds. Then, measure the distance from the lamp to the subject. Now, measure an equal distance at right angles to the camera and mark the spot with a handkerchief handker-chief or coin. Place a second Reflector Floodlight Flood-light halfway along a line from the marker spot, and the lamp at the camera. (This second light may be placed somewhat higher than the lamp at the camera.) Keep in mind that the first and second lamps should always toe on the opposite sides of the camera whether the triangle is set up on the right or left of the camera. |
