Show Sports Schedule Set By State Prep Group The Utah State High School Athletic Committee has set May 13 as the date of the state semifinal semi-final eliminations for high school baseball, and May 20 as the date for the finals. They also fixed dates and schedules for other .spring sports events for prep athletes ath-letes throughout the state. In the baseball sport, six regions have been set up from over the state, with the region winners meeting in the semi-final round. The three semi-final winners will then hold a drawing, one team will get a bye into the finals and the other two battle it out for the other finalist post. Region Three is one of the biggest big-gest competitive divisions in the state, with Springville, Spanish Fork, Payson, Nephi, Tintic, B. Y. High, Carbon and Provo comprising compris-ing teams battling ' for . the diamond dia-mond crown. Region One includes five teams from the northern end of the state. The Big Nine loop includes Ogden, Davis, East, Woet rtttri cinnH-i TnrHnn division teams. Region Four, Sanpete area teams; Region Six, Dixie area clubs. The state track and field meet will be held May 17 at the University Univer-sity of Utah stadium. Regional track meets are set for May 9 and 10 for A and B schools. Region Three competition will be among Class B schools. Provo and Carbon, Car-bon, only Class A schools in this region, will stage a dual meet with two men from each event qualifying qualify-ing for the state. State tennis finals will be held May 17 on the Ute Courts. BYU's Invitational track and field meet is set for April 25 and 26. High school relays re-lays have been set May 3. |
