Show At Interesting Hobby ... ' ' ' t ' S . v "-rT I " :''' ' X ?r. H r - ,S i ; I . " I ' ja f ' 1 f BILL ERDMAN Taking into consideration the fact that Springville people are always interested in the activities and whereabouts of former residents, resi-dents, the Herald this week gives a story of Bill Erdman, which appeared ap-peared recently in the Midvale Sentinel. , Spending his early life in Springville, Spring-ville, Bill, with his wife, the former for-mer Maude Thorn, also of this city, went shortly after their mar- triage to the northwest. Later they returned to Utah because of his health and for the past few years have operated a poultry farm at Midvale. i Unable to do a lot of work, Bill spends many hours at a very interesting in-teresting hobby creating a piece of handiwork which will be the envy of all who see it. Concerning Concern-ing this fine piece of work, the Midvale Centinel said: "William Erdman, Sr., spends many diverting hours working on his beautiful 'American Lady' hooked rug. " 'A thing of beauty and a joy forever' aptly describes the. handsome hooked rug which Bill Erdman, 280 Union Ave.; is making mak-ing in. his home. "A disabled veteran of World War I, Mr. Erdman decided last summer to have a hobby, and chose rug-making as a means to keep busy, while Mrs. Erdman attends at-tends to most of the duties on their poultry farm. The rug, started last August, will measure 36 by 60 inches when completed, and will take a total of 300 hours' time to make. All colors of the rainbow are being woven into the rug by the hook process, and BiVl estimates esti-mates that about ?40 worth of woolen yarns will be used. " 'Tf I figure my time worth about $2.00 per hour, this rug will be worth 'way over $600," Bill declared de-clared with a twinkle in his eye. "Right now the number one question in the Erdman home is who will get the rug when it is finished. Of course, Mrs. Erdman wants it, and so does Bill, Jr., a veteran of World War II, now attending at-tending the University of Utah, not to mention their daughter, Mrs. Louise Milne, who resides in Murray." |
