Show STUDENTS HEAR TALKS BY VOCATION HEADS Kiwanis Sponsor Lectures To Acquaint Students With Types of Industry -r Sponsored by the Vocational Guidance committee of the Kiwanis Ki-wanis club, talks were given by various industrial leaders before high school students, Tuesday afternoon, af-ternoon, to acquaint students with the possibilities of entering the various vocational fields. The speakers, secured from the B. Y. U. as well as locally, told of the types of work they engaged in, of the wages paid, and other details de-tails of interest to students planning plan-ning to go into various types of work. The talks were given in the classes, and in addition to students and instructors, representatives from the Kiwanis club attended each lecture. Those who gave talks included: Prof. Evan Croft and Miss Lucille Hallum of 'B. Y. U., on stenography stenogra-phy and bookkeeping; Robert A. Nelson of Salt Lake City, retail selling; Margaret Potter, B. Y. U., clothing and designing; Miss Wilson Wil-son and Mrs. Eva Barlow, B. Y. U., on foods; Mrs. Guy Jaynes, Springville nurse, nursing; Miss Mary Boyer, beauty culture; Steve Miller, trades; Farrell Madsen, B. Y. U., vocal and instrumental music; Dr. W. G. Biesinger, medicine medi-cine and dentistry; W. W. Clyde, Springville, and Dr. George D. Clyde, U. S. A. C, Logan, engineering; engi-neering; M. Nielson, Spanish Fork, forestry; Merrill Christopherson, Provo, aeronautics; Preston Gled-hill, Gled-hill, B. Y. U., speech; Glen Turner, art. The committee from the Kiwanis Kiwan-is club responsible for the success of the project included Eldon L. Reese, chairman; assisted by Richard Rich-ard Loveridge, Earl S. Groesbeck, Paul K. Walker, and J. Y. Beam-son. |
