Show Springville, Spanish Fork Battle ire a. . . - Titular Game Set For Friday At $ p. m. Spring-ville Red Devils Can (Jain Tourney Berth With Win Over Spanish Fork Springville High School s spacious gym is expected to be filled to llie brim Friday night when THE game of the year, as far as the Red Devils are concerned, will be staged against" the league-leading Span- ish Fork Dons. The all-important battle will get underway at 8 p. m., and will be preceded by the Sophomore game at 6:30. The importance of the game litis in the fact that Springville Spring-ville can sew up a tourney berth for certain, as can the Spanish Fork Dons, as well as win the Nebo Pennant. Not only would the Red Devils be assured of a berth, they would be gaining a little prestige for themselves, since no Nebo team has been able to win from the Dons to date. Mathematically, Math-ematically, the locals could end up in a tie for first place if they could tip the highly-favored Spanish Span-ish five and defeat Tintic, pro- viding that their Friday opponents oppon-ents would lose their game to Pay-son Pay-son on their home floor, too. Regardless Re-gardless of the "ifs" and "ands" Friday's game here, should be plenty hot. Coach Stan Nielsen's club has been hitting its stride the past two games and if they can continue con-tinue to play their best brand of ball, they should give the visiting Spanish Forkers plenty for their money. The Springville team has been going through some tough workouts during the week in preparation pre-paration for Friday's game. j Devils Trounce Wasps ... I Led by Hal Eggertsen, and ably assisted by the entire starting five in the score column,- the Springville Red Devils trounced a bewildered Nephi team on their home court 38-27 last Friday to put the Wasps practically out of the tourney picture. Springville grabbed an early lead of 11-6 and increased it to 22-12 at halftime to assure them of the victory. Pavson tinned the Tintic Miners 30-28 in the other, Nebo game.
