Show NEW GADGETS TO 4 AID HOUSEWIFE Housewives who brave the rigors rig-ors of life in the kitchen year after af-ter year will find their lot more bearable with announcement this week of many gadgets especially designed for them. An explosion proof pressure cooker has been invented as well as a nonskid floor wax for kitchen kitch-en linoleum, Business Week said, in addition to a small step ladder with a special gadget which prevents pre-vents housewives from stepping off or over the top step. Also in the offing is a fire extinguisher guaranteed to put out food fires in stoves without spoiling the food. Other household gadgets include a "Whizz mop" that is magic-like and sweeps, mops or waxes floors, clean carpets, and can be used wet or dry. After using, it can be simply washed out under the kitchen faucet. A sick room gadge which is called "Frez-It Pak" looks like a rubber mold of an ice cube tray and has water permanently sealed in. Pathfinder magazine says it can be used as an ice pack. Flexi- j ble, the pack can be taped or tied ' to any part of the body for an hour's application. It can also be dropped ino a kettle of hot water and used hot. Curtains made out of paper will retail for about $1- and are made of a new shower-resistant paper and come in various colors ranging rang-ing from solids to polka-dots, ac cording to Pathfinder magazine. Other recent developments include in-clude the ordering of tombstones by mail, a service offered by the Rockdale Monument Co. of Illinois, I and Superior Monument Co. Both companies announced they will deliver de-liver "anywhere" free. Housewives lookng forward to cooking with electronics had their dreams shattered this week with the announcement by Edison General Gen-eral Electric Appliance Co. that experiments revealed electronic cooking is not practical for homes. The company said an elecronic stove will cost $1000, compared to $116.50 for kitchen ranges currently cur-rently on the market. Iivaddition, it ; was reported, electronically cooked food comes out of the stove looking different, tasing different, dif-ferent, and having a different degree de-gree of palatability than when ordinarily or-dinarily cooked. Vegetables cook more satisfactorly than other types of food, the company said, but there is much danger of it burning up. |
