Show STATE REJECTS PLEA TO LOWER BENJAMIN TAXES The county commission has received re-ceived word from the state tax commission refusing to make any adjustment on the taxes for the Benjamin farmers who had previously pre-viously asked for some tax abatement abate-ment because of the losses suffered suf-fered in a recent hail storm. The letter signed by R. E. Hammond, Ham-mond, state tax commissioner, says that the valuation of the property is not based upon the success or failure of a crop for the current year and the commission does not see how any adjustment can be made. The county commissioners recently re-cently made a survey of the damages dam-ages in Benjamin and a request for some tax adjustment, in the form of a letter, was sent by the commission to the state tax authorities. |
