Show "Whistle Top," Seething Drama of Typical Small Town Beginning Wednesday, the curtain cur-tain goes up at the Rivoli Theater on the dramatic new film, "Whistle "Whis-tle Stop," based on the best seller of the same name by Maritta Wolff. A small town, a country fair, a shady nightclub are the settings for "Whistle Stop." George Raft stars as the town loafer, in love with Mary, played by Ava Gardner. Gard-ner. Runner-up in the triangle is Lew Lentz, sophisticated and the wealthy owner of the nightclub, the Flamingo. Lew's bartender, Gitlo is played by Victor McLaglen who is never allowed to forget his debt to Lew with the police and his hatred boils for having pulled him out of a jam higher and higher. The story plunges plun-ges from violence to violence and Ava and Kenny find happiness together, at the end of the bloody trail. Don't miss this! |
