Show New Booklet Tells How To Use Color on Roofs What every home-owner real or prospective should know about roofing is explained in a new booklet, "Choose Your Roof for Rain and Shine," to be published in July by the Asphalt Roofing Industry Bureau, an association of 28 leading manufacturers of building materials. Written in non-technical lan-; guage, the booklet emphasizes the necessity of maintaining a sound, fire-resistant roof and illustrates the proper use of color in homes. Remodeling and exterior styling are other subjects covered. "Long term protection is of first importance in a roof," the booklet states, "even though roofing is capable of adding beauty to a home, enhancing design, lending color and giving character and charm." The use of color to create pleasing pleas-ing psychological and visual effects ef-fects or to provide contrast and harmony is fully explained. Home- owners are urged to "understand color, not avoid it." Ten advantages in the selection of asphalt shingles are stressed: long life, fire-resistance, low first cost, ease of application, low maintenance main-tenance expense, insulating value, texture and pattern, wide selection selec-tion of colors, architectural suitability, suit-ability, and adaptability to different differ-ent roof shapss. The 24-page booklet includes numerous four-color illustrations and will be available free of charge. It will be distributed by building material dealers. |
