Show Many Soldiers To Marry Foreign Girls (Pathfinder Magazine) Reported Dr. Henry Bowman, director of Stephens College's division di-vision of home and family: "Many a girl has become a huntress, boldly bold-ly seeking dates and even proposing propos-ing marriage." The reason, he said, is the shortage short-age of men. Then came the State Department with more disturbing news to American grils: About 20,000 foreign girls who have married American service men are awaiting passage to their new homes in the U. S., as many more already have arrived. Most of the unshipped war brides are in England. One reason no room can be found for brides on U. S.-bound transports: War department bringing wounded wound-ed soldiers home at the rate of 1,200 a day. |
