Show WRITER GIVES VIEWS ON JAVA SITUATION Capt. Harold Stassen, writing the Chicago Sun, has some vigorous vig-orous things to ay about strife-torn strife-torn Java. He believes that the British-' British-' Dutch forces and the Javanese should be served with a United States demand that the shooting stop. The civil war there is our concern, he believes, for two reasons. rea-sons. The first is that it grew out of a situation, the end of the war which was accomplished under the leadership of a Supreme Commander Com-mander who is an American. The second is that the United Nations Charter provisions . deal clearly with just such crisis. We helped devise and signed that Charter. Capt. Stassen's views are significant sig-nificant for more than straight-thinking straight-thinking of his own argument. It is well known that he has presidential presi-dential aspirations. His views are news. In view of the tradition of pussyfooting and weasel words among candidates for such high office, his candor is refreshing. |
