Show Prune Lilac Bushes Early In The Spring If your lilac bush has grown stingy with its bloom in its old age, it probobly needs a good pruning, says Farm Journal. Here's how you go about it. Pick out a few of the oldest and tallest .sterns (trunks), and cut them off as near to the ground as you can. Leave about the same number of new stems from last year's growth to replace the old ones you have taken out. Do this each year in the spring before growth starts, and you can always have a young, heavy-flowering lilac bush. |
