Companies People in all walks of life and a great many of them at that own America's great corporations, and the number includes the employees em-ployees themselves. The total increases yearly. For instance, in 1935 a total of 3,491,-000 3,491,-000 shareholders owned 72 of the nation's biggest manufacturing companies. By 1945 the number had increased 17 per cent to a total of 4,082,805. This number of people who own the plants is greatly in excess of the people who work in them. The total employees of the 72 companies compan-ies was 2,925.449 less by 1,157,-356 1,157,-356 than the total of shareholders. |
