Show LOCAL MAN GETS APPOINTMENT LEGISLATURE Maurice Anderson Named By Governor To Succeed Selvoy J. Boyer Maurice Anderson Saturday was named by Governor Herbert B. Maw to fill the vacancy in the state house of representatives from Utah county's district four, to succeed Selvoy J. Boyer. Mr. Boyer resigned the legislative post to become head of the British LDS mission. Mr. Anderson's appointment merely hastens his service as a legislator, a post which he technically tech-nically won in the July 9 primary pri-mary when he defeated William Grotegut of Spanish Fork for the Democratic nomination. As there is no Republican candidate for the state house from district four, Anderson's appearance on th& November ballot will be only a formality. Saturday's appointment means that Anderson will take up his duties at the special session of the state legislature. A director1 in the Springville Kiwanis club and chamber of commerce, and a former Springville Spring-ville city councilman, Anderson has long taken an active part in civic affairs and government. He is at present owner and manager man-ager of the Anderson Locker plant, a frozen foods concern. Prior to the time he entered busi-ness busi-ness six years ago, he was an engineer for the state road commission. com-mission. He is a graduate of the University of Utah and has been a lifetime resident of Springville. A member of the LDS church, Anderson has taken an active part in religious affairs of the community. He is married and has two children. The area he will .represent in district four includes Springville, Spanish Fork, Mapleton, Palmyra and Lake Shore. |
