Show Airway Places $100 Million Clipper Order Pan American World Airways is placing orders with manufacturers manufac-turers for a large fleet of new highspeed transport aircraft - to operate over the systems worldwide world-wide network, and to be used for the additional service the company compa-ny proposes from Baltimore, Boston, Bos-ton, Chicago, Tampa, Charleston and Houston. The systems postwar equipment equip-ment program is understood to exceed $100 million. New Clippers will be colossal compared with present models, each accommodating accommodat-ing more than 100 passengers and flying more than 300 miles an hour through substratosphere. Because of the huge passenger load and high, speed, Pan American Ameri-can will be able to reduce drastically drasti-cally its passenger and cargo tariffs, tar-iffs, so that rates may be as low as three and one-half cents per passenger mile, and ten cents a ton mile for certain classified car go. |
