Show Carl Petersons Feted at Wedding Reception In Second Ward Thursday HOME CULTURE CLUB I ENTERTAINED FRIDAY Mrs. Harrison Conover was hostess hos-tess to members of the Home Culture Cul-ture club at her home Friday afternoon, af-ternoon, October 4. A tribute to Mrs. H. C. Jacobs, past president of the Utah Federation Federa-tion of Women's clubs, was given during the afternoon by Mrs. Harold Har-old Christensen. Mrs. Maurice Bird also favored with a piano solo. A paper, "Women of the Bible," was given by Mrs. H. B. Merrihew of Lehi in a very interesting manner man-ner as the feature of the program. Luncheon was served to twenty-two twenty-two members and the following guests: Mrs. R. C. Campbell of Lehi, Mrs. E. S. Groesbeck and Mrs. Carl Atkinson. MRS. LYNN ALXiEMAN ENTERTAINS "WE READERS" Members of "We Readers" club were entertained Thursday evening eve-ning at the home of Mrs. Lynn Alleman. A review of the book, "Kitty Froyle," by Christopher Morley, was given by Mrs. Warren Bear-dall. Bear-dall. Lunch was served in conclusion to the following members: Mrs. Roe Thorne, Mrs. G. B. Orton, Mrs. Harrison Conover, Mrs. Maurice Mau-rice Anderson, Mrs. Leon Bird, Mrs. Howard Thorpe, Mrs. Maurice Mau-rice Bird, Mrs. Ronald Thorpe, and Mrs. Warren Beardall. MISS THORPE UNDERGOES APPENDICITIS OPERATION Miss Lucille Thorpe, graduate nurse of the L. D. S. hospital, is recovering at her home here from a recent appendicitis operation, opera-tion, which she underwent at the Salt Lake L. D. S. hospital. At the reception, the lovely toug bride wore a beautiful ,n o( eggshell slipper satin 1 tral with a sweetheart neck- ne ornamented with seed pearls 5 wore a floor-length veil gowned with a coronet of seed earls and carried a bouquet of Beam-colored rosebuds tied with white satin ribbon. Bridesmaids were Lucille Jen-lins Jen-lins Leona Peterson, Bette Lee, Llile Curtis, Virginia Tuttle, Kay Tuttle; and Jane Strong, sister sis-ter of the bride, was maid of lonor They wore pastel formals with matching organdy hats and carried nosegays of rosebuds. Mrs. Harriet Strong was matron of honor, and was attired in cream-colored cream-colored brocade satin and she wore a corsage of talisman roses. Others in the receiving line were Ralph Child, best man; Earl Child, Leslie Beardall and Ray Peterson, Peter-son, ushers; and the parents of the young couple. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Strong and Mr. and Mrs. George Peterson. Mrs. Strong chose a gown of hino with flu accordion pleated skirt, and Mrs. Peterson wore black velvet. Both wore corsages cor-sages of rosebuds. Mrs. May Childs was In charge ot the gift room and she was assisted as-sisted by Maurine Childs, Phyllis Brammall, Mrs. Florence Nielson, Sirs. Dan Witney, Mrs. Bessie Brammall, and Mrs. Melissa Thompson. Leona Peterson, Phyllis Peterson, Peter-son, and Shirley Peterson were in charge of refreshments. The table, covered with a beautiful linen cloth, was centered with a tiered wedding cake on four pillars, topped top-ped with three tiny swans. White Upers in gold candelabra burned at either end. Bert Strong, brother of the bride, was master of ceremonies, and the program during the evening eve-ning Included vocal solos, "Sweetheart" "Sweet-heart" and "Because," by Melba Merritt and Robert Peirce; two pipe organ selections by Jane Strong; two vocal selections by Eliza Bringhurst; a vocal duet by Annie and Lula Fox, and two short readings by Elaine Brock-bank. Brock-bank. Mr. Peterson filled an L. D. S. mission in Hawaii and attended He U. S. A. C. at Logan, and the bride attended Brigham Young university. Both are graduates of Springville high school. They will make their home in Springville. WASHINGTON VISITOR FETED AT PARTIES Robert Harrison of Washington, C was guest of honor at a dinner party at the home ot Mr. nd Mrs. Glen Holley Sunday. Mrs. Holley Is Mr. Harrison's sister. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Harrison also entertained at dinner for Mr. Harrison at their home Monday evening. Other guests at both parties ere Mr. and Mrs. George Harrison. |
