Thistle Homecoming day To Be Saturday Band Concert, Program, Sports, Races, and Barn Dance To Highlight Celebration Activities Plans for the Second Annual Homecoming and Thistle Day, Saturday, October 12, were nearing completion com-pletion Thursday morning, according to John Pace, chairman of the day's activities. This year's celebration celebra-tion is planned as the largest of its kind ever to be attempted at Thistle, and a record crowd is expected. ex-pected. Beginning at 2:30 in the afternoon, games and races are scheduled for the children and will be followed with a band concert con-cert by the Spanish Fork high school band. A civic program, sponsored by the various Chamber of Commerce clubs in .Utah county and the former for-mer residents of Thistle, will take place at 4 p. m., and the concluding conclud-ing event will be an apron and overall barn dance at the Thistle recreational hall, with the music and novelty numbers provided by the Moroni Blackhawk band. A trophy will be awarded to the homecoming queen, who will reign over the day's events, and a smaller gift will be presented to each of nine other girls who entered en-tered tbe contest to become queen. The queen will be announced at the ending of the contest on Thursday. Entered in the contest are the following: Angelina Meri-belll, Meri-belll, Ora Jean Lombard!, Glenna Johnson, Myrle Wilson, Jackie lessee, Jane Lossee, Betty Leek, Jeauie Westbrook, Dorothy Mc-Crumb, Mc-Crumb, and Ruth Sackett. A good-will tour will leave Thistle Saturday morning at 9:30 i. m. and will visit the Spanish Fork, Springville, and Provo Chamber of Commerce clubs, in- rtiug them to visit and take part in the day's activities. Working with Mr. Pace on the lomecoming committee are Mrs. Zelma Getz, Kirk Good, and Robert Ro-bert Pace. |
