LOCAL WAC IS MADE ACTING SERGEANT MAJOR Sergeant Merle Fletcher, daughter daugh-ter of Mrs. Mae Fletcher, has been promoted to Acting Sergeant Ser-geant Major at the Headquarters office of the Women's Army Corps in Richmond, Va. Sergeant Fletcher was graduated graduat-ed from Brigham Young University, Univer-sity, and enlisted in " the WAC ir February, 1943. After her basic bas-ic training at Fort Des Moines, Iowa, she was assigned to the WAC Recruiting branch and stationed sta-tioned in Virginia. She toured the state as a member of a recruiting team, and later was assigned to a sub-station recruiting office as station commander. Her first promotion was that of corporal in May, 1943, and she attained her present rank of sergeant ser-geant in February, 1944. Sergeant Fletcher has two brothers bro-thers in service: Commander Quentin H. Fletcher, USN, and Private Reed Fletcher, serving with the Army Anti-Aircraft Artillery. Ar-tillery. They are both with our armed forces overseas. |
