Show LARGE CROWD AT DEPOT BIDS GUARD FAREWELL Band Concert Is Highlight of Informal Program Eyes were moist and emotions hard to control as farewells were said to the Springville guardsmen at the Denver & Rio Grande depot de-pot Monday afternoon. One of the largest crowds of Springville citizens ever to assemble assem-ble were congregated at the depot shouting last farewells and goodbyes good-byes to the boys as they embarked on their year of army life. Sweethearts, mothers, sisters and brothers, and lifelong friends found it hard to say the last farewell. fare-well. High school students marched in a body to the depot and selections selec-tions by the high school band constituted part of the informal farewell ceremonies. Captain J. Y. Bearnson and the guardsmen wish to express their thanks and appreciation to the townspeople, Springville city, and civic organizations for their support in the fine.sendoff given them and for the benefit programs and for everythng that was done in helping the local unit leave for San Luis Obispo. |
