Show Chinese Iiishop Speaks On War W. Y. Chen, ranking Methodist bishop of China, now visiting the United States, says that the war between his country and Japan is "really a war between Christian Chris-tian idealism and Japanese Shin-toism, Shin-toism, between democracy and imperialism, im-perialism, between right and might." The Bishop suggests that inasmuch inas-much as the Japanese worship their emperor as the Son of Heaven, Heav-en, the United Nations should exile ex-ile him from Japan after the war and occupy the Japanese mainland for a sufficient time to impress on the Japanese the error of their ways. The Chinese Bishop reiterates what many other leading Chinese spokesmen have said, declaring that "if America would equip Chinese Chi-nese soldiers, and send its military experts to train them" they would "be ready to go into battle and would drive the Japanese armies from the country." He says that the Chinese have approximately 10,000,000 soldiers at the fronts and another 6,000,000 in reserve. He thinks these men would be ready for decisive action in six or eight months. |
